Options available to Revit users for tackling visibility issues of objects

Well when it comes to the question of controlling the visibility of objects while working on a project in Revit, the answer is a big yes.  Sometimes Revit users end up linking more than one model in their current project, but the visibility control of the objects can still be governed successfully. However, there is no denying the fact that when more files are linked to the current project it becomes slightly difficult to control the visibility of objects for Revit users. Though it’s difficult it’s not a no, Revit still have tools that deal with visibility related complexities.

Visibility related changes are made by Revit users by optimizing its Visibility/Graphics dialog. For dealing with the visibility issue of more than one linked files, it is important for Revit users that they do not turn off a category in visibility/Graphics dialog. However, unselecting a category or turning off a category would only result in turning off all the objects of linked files as well host file that come under this category.

But for appropriate project execution it is important that Revit users separately govern the visibility issues of object in linked files and in host model. For doing so different options are available in Revit.

By Host View: When this option is selected by Revit users, they can no way override the visibility settings concerning linked models. It happens because of the fact that host view controls its appearance. On the other hand when, ‘By Host View’ is selected for a linked model its visibility graphics can still be governed by users.

By Linked View: If in case this option is selected by Revit users they can freely opt between which project view should be displayed for linked models.  And that can be done by Revit users by choosing drop down list.

Custom: When this particular option is selected by Revit users override settings can be selected by them for all available tabs.

So in this way by making use of above mentioned options Revit users can successfully control the visibility of objects.
