Creating Revit Families for a supermarket chain

Creating Revit Families for a supermarket chain

Client Summary

The client is a prestigious retail supermarket group with more than 500 supermarkets, food and convenience stores spread across several territories and states in Australia.

Scope

Our scope of the project was to create detailed non-parametric Revit families for 24 supermarket store objects from the AutoCAD files for some of these objects. The other families were developed from pdfs and images as the client did not have the AutoCAD files. These included:

  • 2 x bakery wall fixtures (2000mm h) that consisted of glass doors
  • 2 x produce bins with top risers
  • 10 x registers with different shape and size
  • 10 x refrigeration cases – these included low profile island cases, deli cases and wall cases

The final output was delivered as .rfa files.

Challenges

As the client did not have AutoCAD files for all the objects, we had to create Revit families from pdfs and images. This was a challenge as the families were detailed and we had to measure exact dimensions from the image to attain the accuracy.
